Bringing Magic to Science Communication
During my time as a researcher at the National Science Museum of Korea, I planned and executed the Magic School Field Trip: National Muggle Science Museum event, a unique initiative aimed at promoting science to the public. This project was part of my ongoing efforts to make science more accessible and engaging for everyone.
A Creative Role: The Muggle Science Professor
As the lead planner and a participant, I assumed the role of Muggle Science Professor at the fictional Newton Scala School of Magic, a concept designed to blend the awe of magic with the marvels of scientific discovery. By presenting scientific concepts through the imaginative lens of a wizard, I transformed potentially complex ideas into stories that resonated with a broad audience.
Promoting Science Through Wonder
This event represented a creative approach to science communication, using magic—a concept often seen as the opposite of science—as a tool to emphasize the excitement and wonder of scientific exploration. Over two days, the event attracted more than 10,000 visitors, offering them interactive programs, storytelling, and hands-on activities that bridged the gap between imagination and education.
Inspiring Curiosity and Discovery
Through this project, I demonstrated how science can be presented in a way that is both fun and thought-provoking. By merging storytelling, creativity, and education, I sought to inspire curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of science, proving that even the most technical subjects can feel magical when delivered with the right perspective.
